LION KING COLLECTION: BEAUTY packaging design
Updated: 1 hour ago

When Luminess partnered with Disney and celebrity makeup artist Sir John to create The Lion King Makeup Collection, I had the incredible opportunity to be part of the design team that helped bring this limited-edition collection to life. As a designer on the team, I contributed to both the physical product development and the digital experience, helping bring this vision to life from concept to launch.
One of my key contributions was assisting the product development team in crafting intricate packaging details that reflected the spirit of the film.
From the embossed textures reminiscent of African patterns to the embedded designs that subtly referenced iconic elements of the movie, every detail needed to feel premium and authentic.
I utilized 3D printing and physical modeling to test different design variations, ensuring that textures and forms translated beautifully from concept to reality.
However, I enjoyed collaborating with every team and supporting everywhere I could. (Please enjoy some of the "Behind the scenes").
Beyond packaging aesthetics, I played a role in 3D modeling the actual products and their encasings, making sure the designs were both visually compelling and in line with the rest of the launch assets like the retail displays. Using Maya and Arnold, I developed high-fidelity models that helped refine the final look of the collection, maintaining a balance between luxury and functionality.
With a collection this iconic, we had the opportunity to be playful and integrate the cosmetics branding within the movie setting. I was responsible for designing the website assets, email campaigns, and social media graphics.
By creating engaging visuals that captured the essence of Disney’s The Lion King, I helped shape the online storytelling, ensuring that assets like Instagram posts felt cohesive and immersive.

This limited-edition collection sold at major retailers like ULTA and online. Seeing the final products on shelves and at the movie premiere was a proud moment for me and the entire team that brought it to life.
This was a deeply collaborative effort: Design, product development, and marketing worked side by side to make sure every piece told a cohesive story. Contributing to a launch of this scale reminded me how powerful good teamwork and clear design vision can be.
